Elect exiles. A living stone. Suffer and hope.
- Peter blesses God for a living hope through the resurrection and calls the elect exiles to be holy as the God who called them is holy.
- They come to Christ the living stone and are built into a spiritual house, a royal priesthood, called to honorable conduct among the Gentiles.
- Wives and husbands are addressed, and Christ suffered once, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring us to God.
- They are to arm themselves with the mind of Christ, love one another earnestly, and not be surprised at the fiery trial.
- Elders shepherd the flock until the chief Shepherd appears, and they humble themselves under God's hand because the devil prowls.
